About Mac Companies

Established over a decade ago, Maintenance Alternatives Corporation is now one of the largest third-party computer service providers in Northern California. From our headquarters in Petaluma and several branch offices, we service over thousand businesses and government accounts. Our regional scope allows us to offer customers the resources and expertise of larger firms while keeping close personal relationships with the people we serve.

Originally the company focused on servicing IBM "3x" systems ? System 34's, 36's and 38's. Later, we added support for the AS/400 series, UNIX platforms, and, as the personal computer industry evolved, we began offering our accounts products and services to incorporate PC's into their midrange environments, including terminal emulation, remote connectivity, software consulting and training, and complete networking solutions.

This transition to a broader focus has allowed MAC to keep pace successfully with the current tremendous interest in integrating many types of computer systems. And, as such demands have continued to grow, the company has increased available skills by hiring experienced specialists. Today the company employs about thirty, most of whom are highly trained technical and support staff, and our present and future customers are able to obtain single-source, full service solutions to all their computing needs.

Our overall approach to providing solutions, is to recognize that client organizations have computer systems primarily to enhance productivity. Our mission is to assist them in whatever ways we can to achieve that goal. Therefore, we view every operation: consulting, planning, installing, training, maintenance, even sales...as service, which means for the customer, more efficiency, more uptime, and better use of their own time and resources.
